1. Hire rates quoted include:
- VAT (17.5%)
- Unlimited miles
- UK standard vehicle insurance*
- UK Standard equipment & breakdown**
*Insurance loading. In some cases, TMC will incur additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, is using a non-UK driving license or is in an occupation which is deemed high risk. These charges will be passed onto the customer.
**TMC will supply full breakdown cover to cover any mechanical faults to the base chassis of the motorhome. Any call out charges necessitated by the client through operator error, e.g. a flat vehicle battery will be the responsibility of the client.
2. Insurance
Standard excess. The above rate includes a standard excess of GB£1000 (GB£1250 abroad). In the event of any damage to either the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first GB£1000 (GB£1250 abroad). The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windows or tyre damage.
3. Security Deposit
There is a refundable GB£1000.00 Security Deposit payable by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. Should the security deposit be paid by credit card, the amount will be debited from your account immediately. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time, in the same condition as it was let out to you, with the toilet empty, the interior clean including all cooking appliances and the tank full of fuel. The hirer should be aware that the £1000 security deposit will be used to fund any loss or damage what so ever to equipment, fixtures and fittings, windows, tyres or negligent damage to the vehicle.
4. European Travel
There is an additional charge of £90.00 per week for European travel to cover European roadside assistance.
5. Ireland Travel
There is an additional charge of £60.00 per week for travel to Ireland to cover Irish roadside assistance.
6. Extra
- Additional driver with a UK license (UK travel only): £3.50 per person per day, clean driving licence (max 3)
- Additional driver with a UK license (Europe travel): £4.50 per person per day, clean driving licence (max 3)
- Points on license: £2.50 - £10.00 per day, depending on number & type of points
- Non UK driver's license holder (UK travel only): £3.50 per day
- Non UK driver's license holder (Europe travel): £4.75 per day
7. Minimum Hire
This ranges from 3 to 7 days depending on the season. Please check with TMC at time of booking.
8. Drivers
- Age limits: 21 to 70 years. Driver must have held a valid license for more than two years
- Details of additional drivers required.
- Production of valid standard driver's license required from all drivers at start of hire.
- Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (eg: parking tickets) which are incurred during the period of hire.
- Maximum of 3 drivers per rental
- Drivers must provide 2 separate forms of identification. i.e. passport and utility bill

10. Payment
Availability is on a request and confirm basis at the time of reservation. A reservation is only binding after it has been confirmed by TMC and a down-payment of £200.00 per week of hire has been received. Once the reservation is confirmed, an invoice will be issued by post for the remaining balance. Settlement of the remaining balance will be due six weeks prior to departure. TMC reserves the right to cancel the booking if payment is not received six weeks prior to departure. Payment is by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), debit cards or cheque in Pounds Sterling.
For late bookings (less than six weeks before departure) the full rental price is payable on booking. Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed. Cheques will not be acceptable for late bookings (less than 2 weeks prior to departure).
11. Credit Cards
Visa card, Mastercard, Amex, Solo, Switch and Maestro are accepted.
12. Cancellation charges
- More than 6 weeks before: Booking Deposit
- 6 weeks - 2 weeks: 50% of total hire charge
- 2 weeks - No Show: 100% of total hire charge
13. Collection & Return
Collection: Please allow 1 hour for the hand-over at the start of the hire - to complete the documentation and demonstrate your vehicle to you. Please allow the same on your return.
Return: The vehicle must be returned on the date, and before the time stated, on the rental agreement. Vehicles must be returned clean and in the same condition as they leave the depot, otherwise a charge will be made. In addition a separate toilet cleaning fee will apply if the toilet waste tank is not empty on return, £50.
Late return: If you will be late returning, the rental company must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured.
TMC Terms and Conditions
AGREEMENT FOR THE HIRE OF A MOTOR HOME
("The Agreement")
1. THE AGREEMENT
1.1 The following terms and conditions and the Booking Confirmation shall together represent the entire agreement made between you ("You", "the Hirer") and the owner of the Motor Home as described on the Booking Confirmation ("the Owner"). If there is anything you do not understand or do not agree with, please contact TMC or the Owner immediately.
1.2 The Agreement shall replace any prior written or oral agreements, representations or understandings between the parties, and all other terms and conditions are expressly excluded. In the event of conflict between the Agreement and any other terms and conditions, representations or understandings, the Agreement shall prevail.
1.3 In this Agreement (except where the context otherwise requires) the following expressions shall have the following meanings, namely:-
"Additional Charges" as described in clause 11.2
"Booking" the hire of the Motor Home by you for the duration of the Hire Period subject to the terms of the Agreement
"Booking Confirmation" the document forwarded to you by TMC which shall confirm the details of the Booking
"Cost of Hire" the total cost of the Booking (excluding Additional Charges) as described within the Booking Confirmation
"Deposit" as described in clause 2.2
"Hire Period" the period of hire as described in the Booking Confirmation
"Initial Payment" a non-refundable payment of £200 made to TMC with the booking request
"Motor Home" The vehicle as described in the Booking Confirmation
"TMC" The Motor Home Company Limited.
1.4 Both parties to the Agreement understand and accept that TMC shall act only as the agent of the Owner in respect of the Booking, and that TMC is not a party to this Agreement and therefore does not accept any liability to either party under the terms of this Agreement.
2. BOOKING AND PAYMENT
2.1 The Initial Payment shall be payable by you with the booking request and the balance of the Cost of Hire is payable to TMC six weeks prior to the start of the Hire Period (or payable immediately if the Booking Confirmation is forwarded to you less than six weeks from the start of the Hire Period).
2.2 A Deposit of £1000 is payable to TMC with the balance of the Cost of Hire and the Deposit shall be reimbursed in full (less any deductions) within one week following the end of the Hire Period.
[2.3 There is no handling or administration charge for payment by credit or debit cards]
2.4 If any payment under the Agreement is not made by the due date for payment TMC shall be entitled to charge interest in respect of any amount outstanding (both before and after the date of judgment) at a rate of [4% per annum above the base lending rate of Royal Bank of Scotland] from time to time [and the Motor Home will not be made available to you if any amount remains outstanding at the start of the Hire Period].
3. CANCELLATIONS
3.1 If notification of your cancellation is received more than six weeks before the start of the Hire Period any payment made to TMC in respect of the Booking will be refunded in full (less the Initial Payment)

3.2 If notification of your cancellation is received less than six weeks before the start of the Hire Period any payments made to date in respect of the Booking are not refundable (and you remain liable for any further sums due in respect of the Booking but not yet paid). In such event TMC will endeavour to rehire the Motor Home for all or any part of the Hire Period and if they are able to do so, you will be refunded to the extent that TMC can recover payment from such alternative hirer, although the Initial Payment shall not be refunded in such event.
3.3 All cancellations must be notified in writing to TMC, but you are advised to call TMC immediately to inform them of any cancellation as this will increase the likelihood of TMC being able to rehire the Motor Home for some or all of the Hire Period.
4. AVAILABILITY
4.1 If the Booking has to be cancelled by the Owner or by TMC acting on behalf of the Owner, TMC will offer you the choice of an alternative vehicle or, if no suitable replacement vehicle is available, provide a full refund of all payments made to date in respect of the Booking.
4.2 Neither the Owner nor TMC will be liable to pay any costs or expenses directly or indirectly incurred by you if the Booking has to be cancelled by the Owner or by TMC acting on behalf of the Owner, and the liability of TMC and the Owner in such event shall be limited to the refund described in clause 4.1 above.
5. COLLECTION AND DELIVERY TIMES
5.1 The Hire Period will be as described in the Booking Confirmation. Unless otherwise agreed with the Owner, the Motor Home will be available for collection [in the afternoon] of the first day of the Hire Period from the agreed location and must be delivered back to the agreed location [by the morning] on the last day of the Hire Period.
5.2 If you have separately agreed with the Owner that a further delivery and/or collection charge will be payable, then such additional charge(s) shall be payable by you in full to the Owner upon delivery and/or collection or otherwise as agreed with the Owner.
5.3 Late returns can have a significant impact on the following hire. If you fail to return the Motor Home by the agreed time you may be liable to a late return charge of £100 and also liable to refund any additional costs incurred by the Owner or TMC as a result of the late return of the Motor Home.
5.4 In addition to the late return provisions outlined in clause 5.3 above, if you fail to return the Motor Home to the agreed location on or before the last day of the Hire Period, you may be charged an additional daily rate for every day or part day you have the Motor Home after the last day of the Hire Period, and the additional daily rate shall be 150% of the [standard daily hire rate] as described in the Booking Confirmation.
5.5 No refund will be payable for the early return of the Motor Home.
6. SUITABLE PERSONS
The Owner shall be entitled to refuse to hand over the Motor Home to any person who, in the reasonable opinion of the Owner, is not suitable to take charge of the Motor Home and in such cases where the Owner reasonably refuses to hand over the Motor Home as a result any breach of the Agreement by you, then neither the Owner nor TMC shall have any liability to refund the Cost of Hire.
7. PETS
Pets are not allowed in the Motor Home without the advance consent of the Owner.
8. SMOKING
Smoking is not allowed in the Motor Home without the advance consent of the Owner.
9. BED LINEN AND TOWELS
Bed linen, pillows and towels are not provided with the Motor Home as standard.
10. CONDITIONS OF USE
10.1 The Motor Home must not be overloaded, or driven by any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or used for hire or commercial reward or for any illegal purpose, or used for racing, pace making, testing the relative reliability and/or speed of the vehicle or teaching someone to drive or driven outside England, Scotland and Wales without advance consent from the Owner or TMC, and where the Motor Home is a commercial vehicle, it may only be used for a purpose for which an operator's licence is required if the Nominated Driver holds an appropriate licence.
10.2 The Motor Home must only be driven by you or any other driver named on the Booking Confirmation, or anyone else expressly authorised in advance in writing by the Owner or TMC ("the Nominated Drivers") and the Nominated Drivers must be between the ages of 21 and 70 and have held a full valid UK driving licence for a minimum continuous period of two years prior to the Hire Period.
10.3 You must not sell, rent or dispose of the Motor Home or any of its parts, and you must not give or assign to anyone any legal rights over the Motor Home.
10.4 You are responsible for the Motor Home at all times whilst the Motor Home remains under your control, and amongst other things you must;
(1) ensure the Motor Home is locked at all times when you are not using it and use any security device fitted to or supplied with the Motor Home;
(2) take all reasonable steps to protect the Motor Home against bad weather which can cause damage to the Motor Home; and
(3) ensure that you use the correct fuel.
10.5 You must immediately advise the Owner as soon as you become aware of any fault with the Motor Home or any material fault with the accessories within the Motor Home. Where possible any such damage should be repaired as appropriate and paid for by you at the time, however you must not let anyone work on the Motor Home without the permission of the Owner and must therefore contact the Owner in advance to seek instructions before carrying out the repair.
10.6 If the Owner has consented to the undertaking of repair work upon the Motor Home as described in clause 10.5, any refund of costs so incurred will be subject to the presentation of a valid receipt for such repair work.
10.7 You are responsible for the cost of repairing any damage to windscreens and windows and punctures or other damage to tyres whilst the Motor Home is under your control. Where possible any such damage should be repaired as appropriate and paid for by you at the time, however you must not let anyone work on the Motor Home without the permission of the Owner and must therefore contact the Owner in advance to seek instructions before carrying out the repair, and if any such damage occurs whilst the Motor Home is under your control and such damage is not satisfactorily remedied before the Motor Home is returned to the Owner an amount will be deducted from the Deposit to reflect the cost of the repairs.
10.8 If you require a replacement bottle of gas whilst the Motor Home is under your control, the cost of the replacement bottle of gas will not be refunded by the Owner.
11. ADDITIONAL CHARGES
11.1 Upon the return of the Motor Home the Owner, or an appointed representative of the Owner, must be given the opportunity to check the condition of the Motor Home and the Motor Home remains under your control until such check has been completed to the satisfaction of the Owner or the appointed representative of the Owner.
11.2 You may be liable to pay the following Additional Charges to the Owner following the inspection outlined in clause 11.1 above;
(1) additional cleaning costs if the condition of the Motor Home is such that a standard valet would not be sufficient to return the Motor Home to a condition similar to that at the start of the Hire Period.
(2) a £50 replacement charge if the toilet cassette has not been emptied before the Motor Home is returned to the Owner.
(3) a £20 refuelling charge (in addition to the cost of the additional fuel) if the Motor Home is returned to the Owner with less fuel than was supplied with the Motor Home at the start of the Hire Period.
12. LIABILITY
12.1 In addition to the Cost of Hire and the Additional Charges the Hirer will remain liable for the following damages, losses, or additional costs incurred by the Owner or TMC as a direct or indirect result of any acts or omissions of the Hirer and passengers;
(1) any damages, losses, or additional costs arising from your breach of the Conditions of Use as described in clause 10;
(2) all fines and costs (including court costs) for unpaid congestion charges and parking, traffic or other offences including any costs which arise if the Motor Home is clamped (and you are further liable to pay any additional costs and reasonable administration charges which are incurred by TMC or the Owner when obliged to resolve such matters on your behalf);
(3) all fines and costs (including court costs) arising from Customs and Excise or Immigration Authorities seizing the Motor Home, and you will be further liable to reimburse the Owner and TMC for monies lost due to the non-availability of the Motor Home;
(4) any other damage that has been caused to the interior or exterior of the Motor Home by hitting low level objects, such as bridges or low branches; and
(5) any other damage that has been caused to the interior or exterior of the Motor Home even if such damage arises accidentally or is otherwise not your fault (subject to the cover provided by the hire insurance).
12.2 For the avoidance of doubt, the Owner [and/or TMC acting on behalf of the Owner] shall be entitled to make deductions from the Deposit in respect of any of the Additional Charges or the liabilities as described in clause 12.1.
12.3 No liability is accepted by the Owner for any loss, damage or injury howsoever caused to any Hirer or other person occupying the Motor Home or to any personal property belonging to the same whilst the Motor Home is under the control of the Hirer. Nothing within this clause shall be construed as purporting to exclude or restrict the liability of the Owner for personal injury or death resulting from the negligence of the Owner.
13. VEHICLE BREAKDOWN
13.1 No liability can be accepted by the Owner for any loss or damage or expense incurred by you as a result of any breakdown unless such breakdown is proven to have been directly caused by the failure of the Owner to adequately maintain the Motor Home in a fit and roadworthy state and condition.
13.2 In the unlikely event that the Motor Home does breakdown whilst under your control you are required to inform the Owner immediately of such breakdown and contact the breakdown service that covers the Motor Home.
14. ACCIDENTS
14.1 No liability can be accepted by the Owner for any loss or damage or expense incurred by you as a result of a road traffic accident involving the Motor Home whilst the Motor Home is under your control.
14.2 If the Motor Home is involved in a road traffic accident whilst under your control you may be held liable for any damages, losses, or additional costs incurred by the Owner or TMC as a direct or indirect result of any acts or omissions of you or your passengers where such acts or omissions may prejudice the position of the insurers of the Motor Home and you are therefore advised to;
(1) obtain the names and addresses of everyone involved in the incident, including witnesses;
(2) inform the police straight away if anyone is injured or there is a disagreement over who is responsible;
(3) make the Motor Home secure;
(4) inform the Owner of the accident as soon as possible; and
(5) complete the accident report that is kept within the Motor Home, and send one copy to the Owner and one copy to the registered office of TMC
15. INSURANCE
15.1 The Motor Home is insured for your intended use during the Hire Period and a copy of the insurance policy is available from TMC head office on request and you should satisfy yourself of the suitability of the insurance for the purpose for which you intend to use the Motor Home.
15.2 Any dispute in respect of insurance is to be resolved between the insurer, the Owner and the Hirer. There is no recourse in such event to TMC, who are not liable to, nor can be a party to, any action arising from such dispute.
16. INFORMATION AND DATA PROTECTION
If you breach the terms of the Agreement TMC may pass your information to credit reference agencies, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), debt collectors and any other relevant third party organisation. TMC may also pass this information to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), who may pass it on to any of its members for any purpose stated in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
17. TERMINATION
17.1 The Owner, or TMC acting on behalf of the Owner, shall have the right at any time to terminate this Agreement immediately by giving notice in writing to the Hirer if;
(1) the Hirer has committed a material breach of this Agreement; or
(2) the Hirer shall become bankrupt or go into liquidation (whether voluntary or compulsory) be dissolved, compound with its creditors or have a receiver, administrative receiver, or administrative receiver appointed over the whole or any part of its assets or undertaking or suffers any similar process under the law of its domicile or place of incorporation.
17.2 If the Owner, or TMC acting on behalf of the Owner, terminates the Agreement in accordance with clause 17.1 it will not affect the entitlement of the Owner or TMC to receive any money owed by the Hirer under the Agreement and the Owner shall be further entitled to immediately repossess the Motor Home without notice if the Agreement is so terminated whilst the Motor Home is under your control and the Hirer shall be liable to pay any additional costs incurred in such repossession of the Motor Home.
18. GENERAL
18.1 Where there are two or more persons comprised in the Hirer, any reference to the Hirer shall include a reference to any one of them and any agreement, covenant or warranty contained herein on the part of the Hirer shall be given by the Hirer jointly and severally.
18.2 References to the singular shall include the plural and to the masculine shall include the feminine and vice versa and reference to persons shall include bodies corporate and unincorporated. The clause headings in this Agreement are for convenience only and shall not affect the interpretation thereof and references to clauses shall be references to clauses in this Agreement.
18.3 The Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with English Law and both parties shall submit to the jurisdiction of the courts in England.
